the sunday braid:
recipe by rule of thumb:
- 500 g flour
- add 1 table spoon salt and sugar and 1 pack dry yeast and stir well
- 3 dl milk, warm half of it with
- 50 g butter and mix with the rest of the cold milk
- pour over the flour
- 1 whisked egg, 2/3 of it you pour into the milkbutter in the flour
- and mix it well
- mix all of it well
- and work it until you get a nice dough
- let rest for 1-2 hours under a towel, under a blanket
- work again
- and let rest for another 1-2 hours
- make to thin rolls of the dough
- that you cross
- and braid
- let go on the baking tray for another 30 minutes
- coat it with the remaining whisked egg
- bake in the oven at 180 degree Celsius for 30-40 minutes
- if you knock on the breads bottom and it sounds hollow it is well baked 🙂
